Katihar: Two women belonging to a family were killed, while 10 others were injured in a collision between an SUV and a truck today morning in Katihar district of Bihar.
Police officials said the accident happened on state highway 27 near Amin Chowk under Pothia police station of the district. The deceased have been identified as Rita Devi (33) and Nitu Devi (35).
Pothia Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Kumar said, “Those in the SUV were returning to their native place in Saharsa after celebrating New Year at Deoghar in Jharkhand. The vehicle collided with a truck coming at high speed from the opposite direction. The driver of SUV is among the injured, while the truck driver fled from the spot after leaving his vehicle.”
The injured have been admitted to Katihar Sadar Hospital and four of them are said to be serious condition.
