Mumbai : Following complaints from citizens alleging that yet another illegal structure was being constructed by actor Shah Rukh Khan outside his house ‘Mannat’ in Bandra, the actor reportedly demolished the structure this time, instead of waiting for the civic body to do so.
Previously on March 5 last year, the MCGM had demolished an illegal ramp constructed by the actor outside his bungalow, and issued a bill amounting to Rs 1.93 lakh for recovery of the demolition cost.
City-based NGO wrote to the civic body two months ago, alleging that the actor had begun constructing a retaining wall in the same place that housed the illegal ramp sometime ago. In its letter written to the H/West ward of the civic body, Watchdog foundation said, “The set back land handed over by Shah Rukh Khan now vests with Mumbai Municipal Corporation and yet he has now again sought to illegally construct retaining wall on the property ( public road ) belonging to the BMC.” The construction also violated CRZ rules.

Following the complaint, Watchdog foundation demanded that the civic body should demolish the retaining wall built on public property, and that the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority should issue a violation notice under the CRZ Notification 1991 and 2011,
Watchdog Foundation’s Godfrey Pimenta said, “When I went around that way two days ago, the actor had pulled down the wall, following our complaint.”
Despite attempts to reach him, actor Shah Rukh Khan remained unavailable for comment.
