Mumbai : Depressed over not being able to pay off a Rs 50 lakh loan, a 35-year-old man attempted suicide and at the same time, poisoned his wife and his two daughters. Soni tried to end his and his family’s life by consuming rat poison late on Thursday night. Soni, who is the sole bread winner of the family, took the drastic step as he was finding it difficult to pay the Rs 50 lakh debt.

According to the police, Soni has been made an accused in the case as he convinced his wife and two daughters to consume the poison.

The incident came to light on Thursday night, when Soni called a friend and told him about his predicament. He in turn immediately contacted Soni’s father Dhulhichand Soni, who stays in sector 1 in Charkop.

They both rushed to Soni’s house and took the family to Karuna hospital in Borivali. As they were rushed to the hospital on time, they managed to give a slip to death. The police was immediately informed.
