Soon, railway commuters can check vacant seats and berth availability online on trains, according to a leading daily. Passengers face a lot of difficulty in getting a reserved train ticket. This system will reduce their hardship. As per the report, the Railway Minster Piyush Goyal has asked officials to develop a system in its reservation software to make occupancy data of trains transparent to public. Commuters are unable to know how many seats are vacant after the final reservation chart is prepared. They have to depend on the travelling ticket examiner (TTE) for the information resulting in confusion.
According to the leading daily, the minister will take up the issue with Central Rail Information System (CRIS) to look for avenues so that passengers could get the real-time status of seats available for booking. The railways will also see that reservation chart is available online to passengers on mobile. The real time update will be difficult as the passengers board and de-board at different stations, according to railway officials.
