New Delhi : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday arrived in the national capital to attend the funeral of President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee.
The Bangladeshi Prime Minister, who is accompanied by Foreign Minister AH Mahmud Ali, Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana and her daughter Saima Wazed was welcomed by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After attending the funeral of late Suvra Mukherjee, Sheikh Hasina will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 a.m. Earlier, the First Lady, who remained hospitalised for 11 days, breathed her last at 10.51 a.m. at the Army Research and Referral Hospital yesterday. She was admitted to the Army Hospital on August 7 after she complained of breathlessness and discomfort. Since then, she had been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
