Johannesburg : Serena Williams has extended her lead in the WTA rankings after her fourth consecutive Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, with the world number one now having more than twice as many points as her closest competitor Maria Sharapova. Sharapova, who lost to Serena in the semis, rose two spots, while Petra Kvitova went down to number five after making a third-round exit. Meanwhile, Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza of Spain has moved on in the top 10 for the first time at number nine, rising by 11 spots, Sport24 reported. The men’s ATP rankings has remain unchanged, with world number one Novak Djokovic maintaining his healthy lead after his third Wimbledon title’s win against Swiss Roger Federer, with Andy Murray at second and Rafael Nadal at number 10.
