Gandhinagar :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s estranged wife Jashodaben has appealed against the Gujarat Police decision to deny her information pertaining to her own security arrangement, as per protocol applicable to family members of the Prime Minister.

While her query to the District Superintendent of Police, Mehsana district of North Gujarat, on November 24 this year, under the Right to Information Act, was signed as Jashodaben Narendrabhai Modi, the six-line reply to her on December 27 is addressed to Jashodaben, daughter of Chimanlal Modi.

The reply has piqued Jashodaben who is credited with the feeling that the reply addressed to her in her capacity as a daughter and not a wife insults her dignity as a married woman.

She is also unhappy with the reply which, to say the least, she finds unsatisfactory. Since the documents and evidences sought by her have not been provided to her, she has chosen to go in appeal against the decision. Her appeal states that the reply provided to her is against all cannons of law as a single reason has been advanced for numerous questions put up by her. The reply by the district police stated that her queries fell in the jurisdiction of the local Intelligence Bureau (LIB) which was exempt under the RTI Act from furnishing replies. Jashodaben has stated that she is the wife of the Prime Minister of the country and wants the copy of the order on the security cover given to her.
