Karachi : Pakistan has reportedly signed a nuclear agreement with Sri Lanka during Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena’s maiden visit to the nation post assuming office. Although details of the deal have not been revealed but it came after Colombo signed an accord with India in February to build its atomic energy infrastructure, including training of personnel, reported The Express Tribune.

The deal came as the island nation looks to building its first nuclear plant. Six other agreements pertaining to advancing cooperation in disaster management, sports, shipping, socio-economic development, education and narcotics control were signed. Sirisena arrived in Islamabad on Sunday on a three-day state visit and was given a red carpet welcome at the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s House. He assumed office in January, ending a decade of rule by Mahinda Rajapaksa.
