Islamabad : The Pakistan army does not seem to care two hoots for its civilian government. After the ice-breaking meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Ufa, Russia, the Pakistan Army on Wednesday was pointing an accusing finger at its counterpart across the LOC.
The latest of its bizarre claims is that the Pakistan Army has shot down an Indian “spy” drone which it alleged was being used for aerial photography near the Line of Control, a claim dismissed by India.
The Pakistan Army, in a brief statement, said the Indian drone was brought down near the Line of Control in Bhimber area of Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
The Indian Army lost no time in issuing a denial. “Some reports about a drone crash in PoK are being referred to. No drone or UAV crash of the Indian Army has taken place,” it asserted.
An IAF spokesperson also denied that any of their drones has been brought down. Incidentally, the incident comes in the backdrop of a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, which left a woman dead and three others injured, including a BSF jawan. Later, there was an exchange of fire on both sides.
For the record, this was the seventh ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops this month. On July 9, troops had fired at a forward border post in North Kashmir killing a BSF jawan. Earlier, on July 7, Pakistani troops had fired on forward posts along the LoC in Poonch district.
