NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday notified tabulation of the ”One rank, One pension” (OROP) to the defence personnel as declared on November 7 last year, along with the detailed instructions for payments, benefiting over 18 lakh ex-servicemen and war widows.
The revision of pension is effective from July 1, 2014, while the arrears will be paid in four installments, except to family pensioners and pensioners in receipt of gallantry awards, who will be paid arrears in one installment.
The notification fulfills the long standing demand of the forces for the last four decades.

The ministry of defence pension outlay will go up by 20% due to the decision — from Rs 54,000 crore in the current fiscal to Rs 65,000 crore in 2016-17.
The annual recurring financial implication of the OROP decision is around Rs 7500 crore while the arrears to be paid up to December 31, 2015 will cost Rs 10,900 crore.
