New Delhi : Gautam Khaitan, a former board member of a Chandigarh-based company Aeromatrix — which was allegedly the conduit for routing the Westland bribe amount – has accepted receiving payments from Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa, the middlemen in the chopper deal.
The revelation came on the second day of Gautam Khaitan’s questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation. An advocate by profession, he is one of the accused in the case along with former Air Chief S P Tyagi.
Sources had on Wednesday claimed that Khaitan during his questioning had admitted setting up a company called IDS Tunisia, which is a subsidiary of IDS India. The company was one among the many through which the alleged bribe was routed by the Westland middlemen to other countries.
But even as Khaitan accepted receiving payments from the two intermediaries, he rejected allegations that it was part of any kickbacks, as charged by the CBI.
