Mumbai : NCP Leader Chhagan Bhujbal, who has been arrested in a money laundering case, on Wednesday reported severe breathlessness and chest pain while he was being interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate officials.
Medical sources said that the former minister is a patient of chronic asthma and hypertension. “When he complained of these symptoms, we decided to send our physicians to the ED office to check his condition,” said a medical source.

After examining him, the doctors administered the necessary treatment and prescribed medicines that he is supposed to take on a regular basis.”His condition did not require him to be admitted in a hospital and hence he was only given treatment,” the source said. The doctors have further advised that he should be examined by a cardiologist and a chest physician, who will decide on the further line of treatment.
Incidentally, there are no such specialists at St. George’s Hospital and hence this will have to be done at some other medical institution, the doctor said.
The issue of his medical condition was also raised by his lawyer in court on Tuesday when the ED had asked for his custodial interrogation. The lawyer had pointed out that Bhujbal suffers from serious medical problems and his stressful condition will aggravate if he is remanded to custody.
