Bengaluru: A meeting of the national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun. BJP president Amit Shah presided over the meeting of party office bearers, union ministers, state chief ministers and deputy chief ministers.
The BJP is holding the three-day meeting in the Karnataka capital with a focus on ways to strengthen its base in the southern states, Assam, West Bengal and Odisha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Mumbai this morning to address a meeting of the Reserve Bank of India on financial inclusion, will reach Bengaluru later today or tomorrow to address the national executive and a public meeting.
BJP general secretary in charge of Karnataka Muralidhar Rao said the meeting will discuss ways to make people aware of the achievements of the NDA Government.
This is the fifth time that the BJP National Executive is being held in Bengaluru. Over 300 delegates are taking part in the event, including veterans L K Advani, and Murli Manohar Joshi.
The birth centenary celebrations of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, a mentor of the party, is also expected to be discussed.
Tight security arrangements have been made in and around the Lalit Ashok Hotel and the National College grounds at Basavanagudi where Prime Minister Modi will address the public.
