New Delhi : Terming the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as a divided party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday dubbed the recent reshuffling exercise by West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee as an effort to serve lollipops to those who are planning to quit.

“There is a complete turmoil in the Trinamool Congress. The party is a thoroughly divided party. And different leaders are pulling the party in different directions. People are hearing about various MPs, ministers in the state government and also some top functionaries of the party quitting the Trinamool Congress soon,” BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao told ANI here.

“To avert all these problems I think Mamata Banerjee has reshuffled her party recently, but many new appointees who have been given such positions consider these are lollipops being given to them to stay glued to the TMC,” he said. The BJP leader also added that the TMC is in a state of no return and TMC is a party that is likely to wither away very soon as most top leaders of the party are looking out and are planning to quit the TMC.

On Saturday TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Banerjee performed an emergency organisational surgery by appointing TMC leader Subrata Bakshi as new additional national secretary at a meet at her Kalighat home, and clipping wings of her once trusted lieutenant Mukul Roy. She also promoted former union minister Dinesh Trivedi to the vice-president’s post in a bid to counter Roy in Delhi.

Mukul was being sidelined ever since his differences with the TMC chief over the Saradha probe became apparent.
