Barack Obama to meet Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi

New Delhi : US President Barack Obama is scheduled to meet Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Tuesday, the last day of the visiting dignitary’s three day trip to India. The US President shall also meet three children rescued by Satyarthi’s ‘Bachpan Bachao’ organisation: Deepak, a former child labourer; Ayub Khan, who was forced to work in a button-making factory under the influence of substances; and Payal, who refused to be married off and today works to eliminate child marriage in her village.  The non-profit Bachpan Bachao Andolan prides itself on rescuing over 83,000 children from bonded labour and slavery since its inception in 1980.
