Mumbai: Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar today asked the Maharashtra Government to announce immediate financial relief to farmers reeling under drought conditions in the state.
Talking to reporters, Pawar said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should seek central aid for drought relief measures.
“I have sought an appointment with Fadnavis to discuss the drought situation in the state and demand financial package,” Pawar said.
When asked about Fadnavis’s recent remarks that he had given a go-ahead to probe corruption allegations against NCP leaders, Pawar said his party (NCP) had not extended outside support to the BJP government for stalling any probe.
“We want stability in the state. The government is free to order any inquiries. At least the suspicion about us will end and all facts will come before the people,” he said.
