Road-trips! The very first thing that pops in your mind is, friends, or strangers or a holiday turning into a dark nightmare coupled with spooky encounters, and the list could be endless. The series Tripping has taken a serious departure from the above-mentioned ideas, and is all set to showcase season two that will air on April 5, 2019, on TVF and Sony LIV platforms.

Sibling journey

The makers of Trippling, took to a different route keeping it very simple and realistic. Trippling (season one) incorporated a rather fresh approach, where three siblings who are bogged down with problems of their own, get together and take off on an interesting road trip to meet with their parents.

The journey becomes even more thought-provoking, as the siblings display their strengths and throw light on the issues they have faced while they are away from each other. The narrative comes alive with great comic timing.

The bigger message is; that in spite of all the odds in their lives, the siblings Chandan, Chanchal and Chitwan seem to emotionally stand by each other through thick and thin. The cinemato-graphy showcases the scenic vistas of mountainous ranges, gushing rivers and the endless highway connecting one to their destination. The dialogues are light, relatable and free from any grammatical jargon, making it more fun!

Retaining the essence

After witnessing the success of season one, the makers decided on making the Trippling season two with DrivEasy as their journey partners. Lead protagonist Maanvi Ghagru (the protagonist playing Chanchal) states, “The success of season one only occurred to me when my Instagram account came crashing.” On further inquiries about the time taken for the release of season two, Sumeet Vyas adds, “Season one went very well, and the audience has a certain expectation from season two. Devising the nuances of season two was becoming potentially important, as we didn’t want to lose out on the essence of the plot nor do we want to discount on the freshness of the same. Also with Sameer Saxena taking over as the maker, it gave the three of us enough time to bond, and this bonding is beautifully showcased on screen.” Unlike season one, that went on the floors in the summer months, care had been taken that the same was shot during winter, so that the cast and crew could deliver a better output.

Twist in the tale

Season two opens with Chandan (played by Sumeet Vyas) signing copies of his book, which proves to become an instant hit with the audiences. The interesting turn is when the book is about to go on the floor and Chanchal files a legal proceeding against her own brother for the same! She demands immediate haul of the film production.

Chitwan (played by Amol Parashar) has delivered a slightly mature portrayal but is just as wack, providing for the appropriate doses of comic relief to balance the sitcom.

Season two comes alive with interesting U-turns to the bond between siblings, and how efforts and measures are taken by each to resurrect their relationship and keep with the basic essence of the plot. Trippling season two is once again written by Sumeet Vyas himself. He is indeed a prolific writer. He adds, “Acting is always the easiest, what is more difficult is what goes on behind the scenes.” It might interest one to learn that Sumeet Vyas does hope to direct his own show some day, however, only if he writes the plot alone.

Swelling hopes

Considering the sitcom will now be available to viewers on two platforms, the makers expect a reasonable swell in the viewership. When OTPs are working as a collaborative unit it proves to become equally advantageous for the makers of the movie/sitcom in the long run. Overall a fun show, and totally worth watching, by the look of it.
