Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Monday night after he complained of digestive discomfort. The actor will reportedly undergo an elective procedure soon, and is expected to be discharged by Tuesday evening.
The news about Rajinikanth's hospitalisation sent his fans into a tizzy and as they prayed for his speedy recovery, his wife Latha Rajinikanth informed that the 73-year-old actor was doing fine, and that it was a planned procedure.
"His condition is stable following his admission for digestive discomfort. He will undergo an elective procedure in the cath lab to attend to the problem near his abdomen, and will be later shifted to a room," a source close to the development told PTI.
Along with his fans, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin too wished the actor a speedy recovery.
Back in 2021, Rajinikanth had faced a similar health scare only days after he was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He then underwent a carotid artery revascularisation procedure and was discharged from the hospital after a few days.
In 2020, amid reports of Rajinikanth embarking on a political career, the actor backtracked at the last minute citing health reasons.
On the work front, Rajinikanth was shooting for his high-octane film with Nagarjuna, Coolie, a few days ago, and videos from the sets had gone viral on the internet. Reportedly, Nagarjuna will be the antagonist in the film.
Rajinikanth will be next seen in the much-anticipated film, Vettaiyan, which stars Amitabh Bachchan opposite him. The prevue of the film was unveiled at a grand event in Chennai on September 20. The film will see Rajinikanth and Big B reunite on the silver screens after three decades, their last film together being Hum (1991).
