Actor-model Lisa Ray recently turned an author with the release of her debut book and memoir titled, ‘Close To The Bone’. However the actress on Friday was furious with a newspaper for covering her memoir story with a glamorous revealing picture.
Lisa shared a picture of the new paper’s front page and called out the organization, she wrote, “Does anyone else see the irony in using THIS image - instead of an author image provided by my publisher,” She also said the casual sexism from the 90’s she talks about in her book unfortunately still exists.
Take a look:
Lisa has also been called and referred to as a ‘sex symbol’ in Bollywood earlier, she had opened up about the same during an interview with PTI. She confessed hating the idea, “to be labelled and put into boxes but I had to deal with it since a young age because I was a sex symbol at the age of 16. It was completely unanticipated. To suddenly become this figure for an entire nation and on top of that, to look much older, that has haunted me my entire life up until now.”
She added the breaking out of the box moment came to her when she talked the the red carpet while being overweight because of the her cancer treatment.
Lisa will be seen next on the big screen for ‘99 Songs’, a musical co-written and produced by AR Rahman, which will release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on June 21.
