Mumbai: Aditya Birla World Academy And BITS Pilani Hosts 11th Edition Of Infinity Math Championship; 400 Students From 8 Countries Participate

The Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) along with BITS Pilani and the University of Waterloo, on Friday, hosted a math championship, with over 400 students from 8 countries, including India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bangladesh participating in the event.

Mumbai: The Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) along with BITS Pilani and the University of Waterloo, on Friday, hosted a math championship, with over 400 students from 8 countries, including India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bangladesh participating in the event.

This was the 11th edition of a competition named Infinity, organised every year by the school. Arjun Pathak and Suhaan Mobhani, Aditya Birla World Academy, and Moksh Nihalani, Dhirubhai Ambani International School were given ‘Mathematician of the Year’ award in the advanced category. Rushyendramani Nomula, Harvest Public School, Telangana and Shaurya Advani, B.K. Birla Public School, Kalyan, was awarded in the Senior Category.

The competition included challenges such as “Bulb Your Ideas,” where students presented solutions creatively through skits, songs, and storytelling, and “Pass the Baton,” a collaborative relay problem-solving round. Students also showcased projects addressing real-world issues, such as sustainable urban development and energy efficiency.

James Tanton, mathematician and guest of honor, commented, “Mathematics tells a human story of creativity and connection. We wish to allow students to engage with this narrative, making the subject joyful, inclusive, and meaningful.”

Highlighting the importance of practical applications, Prodipta Hore, Coordinator of International Initiatives of ABWA said, “Mathematics is much more than numbers in textbooks. Through this competition, we want to enable students to apply mathematical concepts to analyse data, solve problems, and make informed decisions that impact society.”
