Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil Announces Quantum Computing Training For Over 500 Professors To Boost Tech Education Under NEP 2020

In a major step toward enhancing the quality of higher education and building academic capacity in emerging technologies, the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department has announced the launch of the "Quantum Computing Initiative for Maharashtra."

Mumbai: In a major step toward enhancing the quality of higher education and building academic capacity in emerging technologies, the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department has announced the launch of the "Quantum Computing Initiative for Maharashtra." Under this initiative, more than 500 professors across the state will receive specialized training in quantum computing and related technologies.

The announcement was made by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil during a high-level meeting held at Mantralaya on Tuesday. The initiative aims to equip faculty with cutting-edge knowledge and 21st-century teaching skills, aligning with the goals of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and the vision of a "Developed India 2047."

“This initiative will not only impart technical knowledge but also foster advanced teaching skills necessary for the new era. Through this, students will receive higher-quality and more modern education,” said Minister Patil.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary B. Venugopal Reddy, Director of Technical Education Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, Deputy Secretary Santosh Khorgade, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Dr. Karbhari Kale, MITRA CEO Praveen Pardeshi, Quantum Technology Cell Head Dr. J. B. V. Reddy (online), i-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation CEO Dr. Kunj Tandon, IISER Pune Professor Dr. Sunil Nair, and other key education officials and advisors.

The training initiative will be implemented in collaboration with i-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University. The focus will be on quantum computing, innovation, research, and skill development—fields critical to making Maharashtra globally competitive in education, technology, and industry.

Minister Patil emphasized that this program marks a significant milestone in Maharashtra’s journey toward academic excellence and technological advancement, reinforcing its position as a forward-looking state in the realm of higher education.
