England today will face Afghanistan in ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford, Manchester. The hosts are struggling with fitness issues, the latest being captain Eoin Morgan having to leave the field with a back spasm during the game against the West Indies. But the hosts have shown dominance in the tournament with three wins in the four games while Afghanistan is yet to open their account.

The weather is not likely to hamper the match. To everyone’s delight, there are almost no chances of a downpour at the Old Trafford today. Although the sun might not be out during the whole day, it is unlikely to rain. The temperature will range from 15 to 18 Celsius at the venue while humidity would be 70’s. The track used for India vs Pakistan game was a batting paradise. India batting first posted 336/5. Expect another high scoring fixture. Weather is expected to be overcast.

According to BBC, the weather will be dry for the most part today, with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells. The odd shower cannot be ruled out. Just a gentle breeze. A cloudier evening, but it should remain largely dry. However, as the overnight hours progress, there is a growing chance for showers to move in from the south.

Pitch report

The pitch at Old Trafford is a good batting track as seen in the last match between India and Pakistan. Ball will come nicely onto the bat and we could witness a high-scoring encounter. However, there might be some spin in offer in the later stage of the match. The pitch is quite flat, though, with the progression of the game, it generates a bit of turn.
