The Little Master and Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar turns 70 today. Born in the year 1949 at Purandare Hospital, Chowpatty, Mumbai, he was almost exchanged at birth after a nurse accidentally placed him next to a fisher-woman in hospital. Gavaskar's uncle had noticed a birthmark near his ear and when he didn't see it in the other child, he brought the matter to notice.

Gavaskar made his international debut on the 1970/71 India tour of West Indies. Over his illustrious career that lasted 17 years till 1987, he made numerous records that are still remembered today. He is the first man to score 10000 Test runs. He scored 774 runs in his debut series v West Indies (1971). He is the only batsman to score 100s in each innings of Test - thrice

He is the only batsman to score double 100s in all 4 innings in Tests. He has only taken one wicket, that is of Zaheer Abbas. Gavaskar had a great batting technique and his temperament ensured that he didn’t buckle under pressure or play risky shots.
