Showing great bravery during the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 quarter-finals, Kerala player Sanju Sampson impressed everyone after coming to bat despite facing injury in finger. During the Kerala vs Gujarat match at Krishnagiri Stadium in Kerala, Sanju Samson was injured during the first innings. Kerala scored 185 runs in the first innings, during which Samson was injured after Arzan Nagwaswalla’s ball hit him on the right hand’s index finger.
Later, after the dismissal of all other batsmen, Samson again came out to bat at no.11 position with the fractured finger. He batted with one hand and survived 11 balls before falling LBW to Axar Patel. Cricket lovers with remember the sight of Anil Kumble bowling with a broken jaw, face bandaged, and still get Brian Lara out during the Antigua Test of 2002.
Coming back to this game, Kerala won the match by 113 runs. Kerala scored 185-9 in the first innings to which Gujarat scored 162. In the second innings, Kerala scored 162 and later dismissed Gujarat for 81 runs, bagging victory by 133 runs in the end. Kerala sealed the semi-final spot with the victory.
