Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (WRWWO) celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2021 with great zeal. Tanuja Kansal- President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation alongwith the Executive Members of WRWWO organized a seminar on Yoga and Health at Rail Nikunj, Mumbai Central.

On this occasion, Tanuja Kansal gave an insight on the importance of Yoga and its impact on our health. She stressed upon practicing of Yoga in everyday life to reduce stress and anxiety.

According to Sumit Thakur - Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Kansal shared her thoughts on how practicing yoga in our daily lives benefits us physically, as well as mentally. She said that ‘Rog mukht jeene ki ho chahat, Niyamit Yog karne ki dalo aadat, Yog maan ko shaant rakhne ka abhyas hai’. Kansal said that especially during the difficult times of the current covid pandemic, practicing Yoga is the best thing one can adopt as a lifestyle habit. It not only helps us to build a strong physical, mental and spiritual health system, but when combined with breathing and meditation, it acts as the best element to take care of mind, body and soul.

Kansal further added that we should motivate our family members and people in our social circle to practice Yoga, so that they too can experience positivity of mind. She said that Yoga, with its own flavor and benefits can be practiced by people of all ages and provides one with a holistic sense of health and well being. The covid pandemic has filled our mind with negative thoughts and restricted life, with the constant fear of infection risks. She said that when our mind is filled with uncertainty of the future, we often experience sleepless nights, which causes fatigue and stress. During such times, it is important to understand that mental health is very important for survival. To help with this growing level of anxiety, one must live a healthy lifestyle and stay connected with our loved ones and practice Yoga at home. It not only helps to manage stress, but also increases flexibility, muscle strength and tones the body.
