President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed a law forcing IT firms to open offices in Russia. This is to exert greater control over Big Tech.

As per a report by Reuters, the Russian government aims at reducing their dependence on foreign companies and keep control over the internet.

In the past, Russia has shown discontent over social media companies that fail to delete content Moscow deems illegal quickly enough. Facebook , Google, Telegram and Twitter all have court hearings scheduled for later this month with new charges.
