Mukesh Ambani becomes world's 4th richest person - Who are the other three ahead of him?

Mukesh Ambani has now surged past Europe's wealthiest man Bernard Arnault to become the fourth richest person in the world.

Now, the Reliance Industries Limited Chairman is worth $80.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His net worth amassed $22 billion this year.

With this, now, Europe's wealthiest person Bernard Arnault slips to the fifth position with his fortune worth $80.2 billion.

Mukesh Ambani's oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries has been ranked second biggest brand after Apple on the FutureBrand Index 2020.

"This year's highest entrant at number two, Reliance Industries excels on every attribute," FutureBrand said, releasing its 2020 Index.

Reliance Industries Ltd reported a better-than-expected net profit of Rs 13,248 crore in the June quarter on the back of exceptional income.

Net profit was Rs 10,141 crore in the same period a year back, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The company said it recognised an exceptional gain of Rs 4,966 crore from stake sale.

Reliance has sold 32.84 per cent stake in Jio Platforms Ltd - the unit that houses India's youngest but largest telecom firm Jio Infocomm and apps. In total, Jio has raised Rs 1,52,055.45 crore.

Now, as Ambani cements his place in the fourth position on the index, here's a look at the other three people who rank higher than the RIL Chairman. Well, Ambani is about $22 billion away from reaching the top three. And Jeff Bezos still retains the richest person's spot with a net worth of $187 billion. Followed by Bill Gates with a net worth of $121 billion and Mark Zuckerberg at $102 billion.
