‘Country needs better coaches’
BHOPAL: “Every sportsman faces ups and down but that doesn’t mean that their career has ended”, said Olympic silver medal winning badminton player PV Sindhu while addressing the press here on Thursday who was present in Bhopal with coach Pulela Gopichand and mother P. Vijaya for MP Shikher Khel Alankaran.
“With success comes great responsibility and responsibility demands more hard work. I now feel more responsible and thus I have started working harder”, said PV Sindhu. Avoiding question on Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu said that injuries don’t come with notice and as a sports person; I know how difficult it is to get back to the old form.”
Badminton coach Pulela Gopichand said that Badminton has great potential as a game and good players are coming up. We need coaches who can mentor these players and we have coaches who are doing well too. “It took us 14 years to reach here and new players needs to be nurtured from now for getting such results in future. MP has huge potential, it just needs a little change in the structure”, he said. PV Sindhu also said that people believe that Carolina and PV Sindhu will face each other again in China and that she is working on her shortcomings. PV Sindhu also keeping silent on the question of surgical strike said, “Whatever is good for the nation is good according to me”.
