BHOPAL: The Kamla Nagar police, on Wednesday, arrested a person on the charge of making fake voter IDs which were used for voting in the municipal elections in the city. Another accused Pradeep Saxena, popularly known as Monu Saxena, who won from Ward Number 27 on a Congress ticket is also wanted in the case and is yet to be arrested. He won from the New Bhopal area, which was swept by the BJP.
Saxena had begun his political journey from NSUI and later graduated to the Youth Congress. The name of the arrested accused is Umang Jain and police have registered a case against him under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC. According to Kamla Nagar police, they had received a complaint in this regard from Ashutosh Tiwari, the BJP candidate who lost the elections. The complainant had stated that Monu Saxena, Umang Jain and another accomplice of theirs had forged documents and got fake voter ID cards issued. The persons in whose names the ID cards were issued did not exist. They had prepared fake voters’ list to win the election.
