BHOPAL : Resentment in the state unit of the Congress over formation of the new Pradesh Congress Committee snowballed on Sunday with the leader of opposition Satyadev Katare opening front against PCC president Arun Yadav.
Katare said he will complain to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday for not being consulted while constituting the new body.
“As a leader of opposition, Katare’s views should have been taken into account in the formation of new body. It is unfortunate if it was not done,” said a senior leader.
Several other party leaders have already complained against Yadav. Party sources, around 100 such complaints reached Gandhi’s office in two days.
Some leaders talked to State in-charge general secretary Mohan Prakash who assured them to discuss the issues on his next visit to the state.
Some MLAs like Dr Govind Singh, who were included in new PCC, are not satisfied with the position given. Party sources said, Dr Govind Singh could submit resign from vice president post on September 8.
Besides, senior MLA Arif Aqueel, who was urged by general secretary Mohan Prakash on phone for not making public statement on the party’s decision, is likely to take a decisive step.
PCC chief Yadav to go to Delhi today
PCC president Arun Yadav will reach Delhi on Monday. The party sources said Yadav will take part in a crucial meeting slated to take place on Tuesday in the party for extending tenure of the party’s national president Sonia Gandhi for a year. He may be asked to hold discussion with dissent leaders.
Few Cong leaders defend Yadav
Some Congress leaders have come out in support of the state party president Arun Yadav, who is under attack over the newly-formed state executive body.
In a statement released on Sunday, state vice president Syed Sajid Ali, Jabalpur general secretary Rashid Siddiqui, Secretaries Sayyad Sajid Ali and Tauqueer Nizami expressed their satisfaction on the constitution of the state executive. They said by that giving a chance to all sections of the society, especially the minority community and youth, the party leadership has reiterated its commitment to promote them. They said it was a welcome move in the right direction and would help the party grow in the state.
