BHOPAL : Union Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, in her address in Kisan Sammelan organised on the launching of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, said no farmer will feel dejected now. She said Madhya Pradesh is the appropriate place to launch this scheme. She said she wanted to bring Prime Minister to a village adopted by her in her Lok Sabha constituency. Sushma said Prime Minister had brought gifts for all farmers of the country.
Union Minister for Agriculture Radhamohan Singh said Prime Minister was the moving spirit behind the scheme. He said some leaders only talked about farmers but did nothing for them during the 10 years of UPA rule. Singh alleged that UPA government never paid attention to the discrepancies in the Crop Insurance Scheme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented ‘Krishi Karman Award’ for the year 2013-14 during Kisan Sammelan. Modi was given ‘Kisan Mitra Samman’ and was also presented a felicitation letter. In a first, three farmers were given ‘Soil Health Cards’. Three farmers were given claims of crop insurance of Kharif crop for the year 2015.
