Couple murder: Nephew’s bid to mislead cops puts him under lens

Bhopal: Police are quizzing 25-year-old nephew of couple who was found murdered at their home in Panchseel Nagar on Wednesday evening. Misleading information furnished by youth had brought him under police lens.  Retired forest employee, Dalchandra Razak, 62 and his wife Beti Bai, 55,were found murdered at their home on Wednesday afternoon. On ground of suspicion, TT Nagar police had detained the deceased’s couple nephew Manish Razak later in the evening.

The youth, a resident of Bhim Nagar runs a kiosk in the area.  While giving the details of the incident, the youth had tried to mislead police, which raised doubt over him. He was later detained for questioning.  Police have also come to know that the youth was spotted loitering in the area the entire day, however while questioning he lied to police about his presence in the area.Razak had received gratuity of Rs 1000,000 on his retirement, however, most of the amount was withdrawn from his account without his knowledge. He had then called Manish to inquire about the same. The retired employee was getting a house constructed in the same area.

TT Nagar SHO Virendra Singh said that the youth is nephew of the Razak he was the one who had brought the couple’s daughter Neha from her office after the incident. The couple’s daughter, Neha, 20, works at call centre in MP Nagar. After she received the tragic news of murder of her parents, the girl had called up her cousin Mahish to take her home. The youth then went to fetch Neha and brought her home.

Like others, the youth looked shocked and grieved. When police questioned him about his relation with the deceased couple and his whereabouts on the day, Manish tried to give vague replies, which raised doubts in mind of police. Neha in his statement told police that her father had called Manish after he found that huge amount was debited form his account without his knowledge.

Cops then detained the youth and brought him to police station for further questioning,  SHO Singh said the police are verifying the bank details of the deceased and also inquiring about the money debited from his bank account and person behind it.
