SAGAR : The congressmen, including the leader of opposition of Sagar municipal corporation, gheroed the SMC, protesting the installation of water meters in the water connections. A memorandum submitted to the commissioner in this regard.
The congress party members, including former MLA Govind Singh Rajput, DCC president Rrekha Choudhary, state observer of congress Vibha Patel and many other took out the rally and gheroed the SMC on Monday.
While addressing the meeting, the leader of opposition of SMC Ajay Parmar alleged that the MIC had passed the proposal to establish the meters in the recent meeting held on 23rd of June. Parmar alleged that the BJP led council is working for the benefit of the contractors.
He added that the central government had funded the scheme to established meters on the water connections, to save and also to stop misuse of water in domestic front. Under this programme, the SMC had to stop water leakages; proper arrangements of distribution lines and to provide 24 hour water supply, for this Rs. 5 crore had been allocated.
Parmar alleged that the SMC had a first responsibility to stop water leakages, but it is not doing. Second the concept of 24 hour water supply in Sagar is next to impossible, because the main source of water supply, the Rajghat dam is not capable to supply 24 hours of water, because half of the city water supply is based on the overhead tanks, for this almost 6 hours are needed. Parmar alleged that the SMC is trying to give benefits to the contractors, who want to install meters in the connections. He alleged that if the SMC installs the meters, the monthly bill will be going to increase upto Rs. 1200, presently the residents are paying Rs. 150 per month.
The former MLA Govind Singh Rajput alleged that the BJP led government is working for the benefits of the contractors and creating international scam like Vyapam. He alleged that the former minister Laxmikant Sharma is waiting in the jail to receive chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and half of the cabinet, who are involved in the scam.
DCC president Rekha Choudhary alleged that the mayor Abhay Dare is fulfilling his business deeds by installing water meters in the connections.
