BHOPAL : The body of the man, who jumped into the Upper Lake during the immersion of Durga idol at Prempura Ghat within the limits of Kamla Nagar police station on Friday early morning around 4 am, was fished out by five divers of a special police team from Indore on Monday morning. According to eyewitnesses the deceased shouted ‘Jai Mata Di’ and jumped into the water on early morning on October 23 during the immersion of Durga idols.

CSP RD Bharadwaj said that the deceased was identified as Pradeep Randhve (Marathe), 42, son of Devraj Marathe, resident of Lalita Nagar at Nayapura locality in Kolar area. He worked in a private firm.

The team of divers of the local police and BMC were trying hard for the last three days to fish out the body but in vain. A team of ten SDRF (Home-guards) was searching for body and a special team was called from Indore which reached the city on Sunday and after a day-and-a-half-long search operation fished out the body at around 11.30 am.

Ramchandra Randhve, brother of the deceased, alleged that the delay in the search operation was caused due to the lack of diving equipments with the BMC divers. Their oxygen cylinder was leaking due to which divers couldn’t search for body in deep waters. CSP Bharadwaj said that the deceased Pradeep with members of Akash Vyapari Samiti had come with the procession for immersion of idol around 12 am on Thursday night and reached near Prempura Ghat around 3.30 am. Around 4 am deceased Pradeep along with six to seven members of Samiti on a boat for immersion and jumped into the lake.
