BHOPAL: Women gathered and pelted stones on the liquor shop at Ashta of Sehore district on Sunday. They were demanding closing of the shop in the area and shifting it to another place.

Hundreds of women and villagers gathered at the liquor shop and started raising slogans. The police reached the spot and tried to calm down the protesters, but in turn they started pelting stones on the shop.

The shop workers ran away, while the police also absconded from the spot. Meanwhile, tehsildar of Ashta Mahesh Agarwal also reached the spot and asked the protesters to stop their action. But the protesters did not pay attention to the tehsildar and remained aggressive in their action. In the ruckus a few policemen and shopkeepers received minor injuries.
