BHOPAL: The BJP has started preparations for the forthcoming by-elections to be held in Ater and Bandhavgarh assembly constituencies.
A survey commissioned by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has concluded that victory will not be easy for the saffron party in both the seats. In view of this, Chouhan has begun the exercise of formulating a fool-proof strategy to win both the seats.
The survey revealed that in Bandhavgarh, there is resentment against minister Gyan Singh, whose son gets party ticket. Local BJP workers are also not happy with the candidate. Congress’ Savitri Singh is being considered a ‘strong’ contender.
In Ater, BJP candidate Arvind Bhadoria may face stiff challenge from the Congress candidate, Hemant Katare. Hemant, son of late Satyadev Katare, has been cultivating the constituency for long. Caste equations will be an important determinant of the poll outcome here.
A meeting was held at the CM House on Thursday to review preparations for both the by-elections. State party chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, organisational general secretary Suhas Bhagat, state ministers Narottam Mishra, Rampal Singh and Vishwas Sarang and state vice-president Vijesh Lunawat and general secretary Ajay Pratap Singh were present.
Besides publicity material, the responsibilities to be assigned to the ministers were also discussed, besides the places where the CM will address the election meetings.
