BHOPAL: The Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) resumed bus operations on Wednesday plying 13 buses on three routes, with over 2100 passengers.
On Wednesday, five buses of SR-1 series ran between Chirayu Hospital and Bairagarh Chichli, while SR-5 series buses plied between Awadhpuri and Chirayu Hospital and 3 buses of TR 5B series operated between Gandhi Nagar and Mandideep. Two buses of this series could not start due to technical issues.
As the buses remained parked for nearly two months, the BCLL officials are carrying out fitness tests before bringing all the buses on city roads again.BCLL official Sajay Soni said that they are yet to examine fitness of the buses before we start operating all the buses.
The commuters welcomed the decision of the government for resuming the bus services saying that it was the cheapest mode of transportation for common man. The passengers, taking the bus after a long time, heaved a sigh of relief saying commuting to work or any other place on the bus cost them over half of what they have to shell out while taking cabs or autos. Besides, the buses are also faster and convenient, they added.
