Bhopal: Vichar Madhya Pradesh that conducted a social audit of Narmada Seva Yatra, released its report on Monday. The report claims the yatra was a political movement in place of any Seva Yatra. Former MLA Girija Shakar Sharma said the motive of the audit was to find out the grassroots changes as declared by CM Chouhan during the yatra.
He said, it was claimed that 20,000 saplings were planted, but in the survey they did not find a single sapling surviving. The situation of sewerages getting in river Narmada was still same. He claimed in Hoshangabad the project prepared to stop city drains mixing with the river, would take at least five years to see final closure.
The CM declared total ban on sand mining from the river, but when they visited Jabalpur, they found sand mining in vogue. They informed the district administration and then only it seized the boat and other equipments. Former MLA Paras Sakhlecha alleged despite the CM’s declaration of closure of liquor shops, people were supplying liquor on motorcycles and cycles. “The ban has promoted cottage industry in liquor supply. Now one can get liquor at his doorstep,” he claimed.
72% say Narmada Yatra was a political agenda
The survey found 67 per cent people think calling Bollywood celebrities was wrong. At least 72 per cent feel the yatra was a political agenda not the real reformation of the river. No less than 61 per cent claim that this Yatra is not going to help river conversation.
