Bhopal: ACS RS Julania said, “Medical Council of India (MCI) has permitted state government to run the newly developed medical colleges on the basis of the arrangements that we have made there. Seats have increased been from 700 to 1200. It will go up to 2000 next year.”

With only 20 per cent of basic infrastructure including teaching facilities government has started medical colleges at Vidisha, Datia, Ratlam, and Khandwa with the current academic session.  Medical Council of India (MCI) has permitted state government to run these colleges.

Five hundred seats have been increased in MBBS course by introducing new medical colleges in Datia, Vidisha, Khandwa and Ratlam from this academic session. New Medical College has been approved in Seoni and Chhatarpur. In this way, 6 new medical colleges including Shahdol, Shivpuri, Satna and Chhindwara will start functioning in the coming days.

Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University vice chancellor Dr RS Sharma said, “Minimum 20 per cent of overall facilities is needed to start MBBS Course in medical colleges as part-1 students of MBBS need faculties of Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-chemistry. Government will add on facilities years to come as students will qualify part-1.” Three faculties of Anatomy, Bio-chemistry and Physiology are enough to start MBBS part courses. This is reason, government has started medical colleges at  Vidisha, Datia, Ratlam, and Khandwa with minimum infrastructure.
