HOSHANGABAD : Commissioner Umakant Umrao, as part of Gramodaya Se Bharat Uday campaign reached the Bhatgaon and Gajnai villages of Sohagpur Tehsil on Monday on a surprise inspection. He reviewed the resolutions passed by the Gram Sansad and the status of the implementation of the schemes made by it. He said that as far as possible, applications received by the Gram Sansad should be disposed within a time limit. He urged the villagers to help the weak, destitute, differently-abled and old persons.
Talking to the elderly women of the two villages, he said that the government is endeavouring to restore the glory of the River Narmada and for that intensive plantation is planned in the riparian zone of the River. He said that the elderly should introduce the younger generation to medicinal plants and should persuade them to plant such plants. Among those present on the occasion were SDM Sanskriti Jain, tehsildar Bhaskar Gajchle and Kaushlesh Tiwari, convener of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad.
He also inspected the seeds and saplings being prepared for the plantation drive. He said that all necessary preparations should be completed in advance.
