Bhopal: Social justice and disability welfare department on Friday ordered to conduct inspection of 100 NGOs funded by the department. The order came in wake of rape of an inmate of hostel run for differently abled girls in the city.
The principal secretary Ashok Shah issued the orders directing the district collectors to complete inquiry of the NGOs within a month, the report of which is to be submitted to the department. They have also been asked to conduct inquiry of all the shelter homes and hostels been run by the NGOs. The students living in such hostels shall be questioned in the closed door and their statements shall be recorded, said the order.
The income status of the organisation including that of director, presence of CCTV cameras, staff information, and other details are also to be reported. A year back some of the inmates of hostel had complained that director Ashwani Sharma was bothering them. The department had conducted a probe and had order him to close the boarding facility.
However, later he again started a hostel this time at his residence. The department is providing the amount of Rs 4000 per month to the differently abled students undergoing training at the ITI. The director was allegedly keeping the amount and even not giving any proper facilities to the girls.
CCTV cameras even shelter homes’ gate
Collector Sudam Khade has directed installation of CCTV cameras at even the main gates of shelter homes in the state capital. Collector said that no irregularity was found by team constituted with inspected all the government funded shelters homes. A team led by SDM and officials of women and child development and social justice inspected the boarding facilities.
