Police busted a gambling den in Gandhi Nagar area on Monday night and arrested 21 people, over a dozen of whom have criminal record. Around Rs 2 lakh cash, playing cards and other articles were seized from their possession. A team of crime branch police raided an under-construction house in Gandhi Nagar and caught 21 gamblers red-handed and seized Rs 2,05,600 in cash.
ASP (crime) Nischal N Jharia said during night patrolling police received tip off that a few goons including a district extrened were assembled inside an under-construction house, where a gambling den was being operated. Police raided the site and nabbed the gamblers .
Cops have registered a case under section 13 of gambling act against the accused and are investigating the case. Out of the 21 arrested, around one-and-a-half dozen people were found to be having criminal records. The accused Aizaz alias Chote is in Gunda list of Gandhi Nagar police station and has been externed from Bhopal district limits. He was thus booked under section 14 of NSA. Similarly, Asif is in Gunda list of Koh-e-Fiza police station, whereas Shafeeq is in list of Bazaria police station.
