Bhopal: Coop bank guard shoots self with his rifle

A security guard of a co-operative bank killed himself with his own rifle in Bairagarh area on Tuesday afternoon.  The CCTV footage installed outside the bank has captured his act, however, the reason that promoted him to take his own life is yet to be ascertained.

According to SDOP Deepak Nayak the deceased is identified as 32-year-old Dinesh Rajawat who hails from Karond area but was presently living in Gandhi Nagar area along with his wife and two children including a 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.  He worked as a security guard in Mahanagar Co-Operative bank in Bairagarh since 2005.

On Tuesday afternoon after the lunch time in bank, he was seen in the bank’s CCTV camera footage while talking to someone over his mobile and after disconnecting the phone, he sat on the chair following which he shot himself in his head with his rifle from point blank range. The bullet went through his head and killed him instantly.

Sant Hiradaram Nagar Police Station in charge Ajay Mishra said that the incident happened at around 3:35pm in the afternoon when the 32-year-old security guard was on duty at the main gate of the Mahanagar Cooperative Bank’s branch.
After hearing the gunshot sound, bank staff rushed outside to know exactly what happened only to spot body guard lying in a pool of blood after which police were informed.

“We do not know for now why Rajawat killed himself but some personal problems may be the reason behind his suicide. A probe is underway,” SHO Mishra added. ASP Dinesh Kaushal said the details of his calls are awaited and we are probing the matter all the angles. The statement of the bank’s staff and his relatives will soon be recorded, he added.
