Other babus leave midway

BHOPAL: All the bureaucrats were supposed to listen to PM Narendra Modi’s speech on the Civil Services Day on Saturday. Special arrangements were made in a room at mantralaya for beaming the speech live on a big screen. However, even chief secretary BP Singh did not turn up to hear the speech. A handful of IAS officers did come but they left midway through the speech.

Principal secretary, GAD, Seema Sharma was only one who listened to the full speech. ACSs Deepak Khandekar and KK Singh, PSs Manoj Shrivastava and Mohammed Suleiman and secretary Aniruddh Mukherjee came but only for formality’s sake.

The state government had directed that officers down from the mantralaya to the district headquarters should listen to the PM’s speech.

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan only on Friday had commented on the influence and power bureaucrats commanded.

And the babus have more than proved that they are so influential and powerful that they can throw the directives of the CM to the winds.
