A BPL (Below Poverty Line) card holder and owner of property worth crores- after falling into income tax department dragnet- realised that benami properties were bought on his name. IT department has started proceedings for provisional attachment of the property.
The benami property wing of income tax department after analysing money trail realised that Kalla Sahariya from Isagarh in Ashok Nagar district was listed in BPL category but his bank account showed transaction in crores. In the probe land deals of about 22 acres in and around Bhopal were exposed.
The said land was bought in Daulatpura, Kakaria and Mahawaria villages between 2008 and 2011. Back then the price of this land was around Rs 6 crore. The present market value of land is estimated around Rs 25 crores. Kalla Sahariya was grilled after which names Sharma brothers, who are into real estate development came to the fore. S
hashishankar and Vikas Sharma, who work as builders were found to be the persons who invested the money on name of Kalla. Sharma brothers and Kalla had been summoned and given notice for provisional attachment of their property. Kalla was used in the game as the land was bought from the tribal people. According to law, land owned by tribal cannot be bought by non-tribal.
Kalla- a BPL card holder buys grains from government ration shop. His monthly income was Rs 300 before 2010. Later in a survey conducted for BPL families, Kalla revised his monthly income to Rs 1500.
Kalla and Sharma brothers have 15 days time to reply to the notice.
