The video shows Singh addressing Sidhi MP and BJP candidate Riti Pathak as ‘Maal’. The opposition has slammed the Congress leader for the wrong choice of word terming it as sexist and derogatory. In the video, Singh is seen addressing people stating that they made Riti Pathak win last time but she did not come for their help. She was not a ‘Theek Maal’. Singh said people should test him this time and he has come before them.
Taking strong objection to the Singh’s choice of word, BJP flayed the Congress leader for using indecent language for a woman. Singh’s language cannot be accepted by a civilized society, said BJP spokesman Rajneesh Agarwal adding that Singh’s language shows his mentality towards women.
Clarifying his remark, Singh said he did not mean it and that BJP was indulging in cheap politics. Earlier, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh too got stuck in a controversy over calling woman ‘Maal’. Singh had termed former MP from Mandsaur Meenakshi Natrajan as ‘Tanch Maal’ which had attracted severe criticism from public.
