BHOPAL: “Be proud to be an Indian”. This was the message given to the students on the occasion of Vijay Diwas by Colonel Narayan Parwani. Addressing the students of Mithi Gobindram Public School here on Tuesday, Colonel Parwani said December 16 is celebrated as ‘Vijay Diwas’ in our country to commemorate India’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The war ended with the unconditional surrender of Pakistani Army and the subsequent creation of Bangladesh. On this day, the chief of the Pakistani forces General Niazi, along with 93,000 troops had surrendered before the Indian army led by General Jagjit Singh Arora.
