Lucknow: The Terai region of Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas have now emerged as a new center of women empowerment and economic transformation. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the white revolution has transformed the direction and condition of districts such as Bareilly, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur and Rampur.
Through the dairy business spread across 1,500 villages, 51,000 women have become entrepreneurs and are writing a new story of self-reliance. The earnings from this work are directly credited to their bank accounts every month on the 3rd, 13th, and 23rd.
Under the leadership of Srijani MPCL, daily milk collection now takes place every morning across these Terai districts. Women, through self-help groups, are managing the entire chain - from production and collection to marketing.
As a result, the region now sees more than 1,00,000 liters of milk traded daily, and women have collectively conducted business worth over ₹225 crore so far.
Areas once considered backward in terms of development are now gaining a new economic identity, thanks to the hard work of women during Yogi government’s tenure. Employment opportunities are also being created across villages.
The Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission has played a crucial role behind this transformation by providing women with training, financial assistance, and market linkages. As a result, women are no longer just participants but have become key drivers of the rural economy in their villages.
This transformation is visible across the state as well. Uttar Pradesh has now become one of the leading states in milk production in the country, with rural women collectively collecting around 10 lakh liters of milk daily.
In 31 districts, women have generated business worth ₹5,000 crore, and the model has achieved remarkable success in more than 6,000 villages.
The white revolution in the Terai is not just a story of economic growth but also a powerful example of social transformation. By becoming self-reliant, women are not only supporting their families but are also giving a new momentum to the state’s economy.
