NBA Basketball Tournament: Transpire Sports Charge To Easy 72-56 Victory

Transpire Sports were inspired and produced a collective performance to record a fluent 72-56 (HT: 31-18) win against Fr. Agnel’s Gymkhana in a Men’s first-round match of the NBA basketball tournament 2024, played under floodlights at the Late Bachoo Khan Municipal Playground, Nagpada, late Sunday evening.

Showing good understanding and excellent teamwork the Transpire Sports players also exhibited superb shooting skills to dominate the match against the Fr. Agnel outfit who tried to put up a fight.

Transpire Sports' leading scorers were (Fashif Shaikh 16 points, Mohsin Shaikh 15 points, Jay Kumar 14 points, Fardeen Khan 12 points and Mohd Salim 10 points. For Fr. Agnel’s Vaishk M. shot 14 points while Satbir Singh and Tanmay Rane contributed 12 and 10 points each.

Earlier in a boys’ under-22 encounter, Ghatkopar YMCA powered by the brilliance of Aman Sharma, who top-scored with 19 points, and Deepak Chaurasia 11 points defeated HI-5 ‘A’ 51-35 (HT: 30-19). Amit Yadav 12 points and Dipesh Sharma 10 points shot the baskets for the losing side.

In a boys’ under-14 second round match, Campion School comfortably prevailed over Anjuman Islam School by a 33-8 (HT: 23-2) margin. Campion star Ayan Raychaudri scored 10 points and was well supported by Shrikrishna Mujumdar who chipped in with eight points. Idrisi Saud scored all the four baskets for Anjuman.

Results – Boys under-14 (2nd round): Campion School (Ayan Raychaudri 10, Shrikrishna Mujumdar 8) beat Anjuman Islam School (Idrisi 8) – 33-8 (HT: 23-2).

Boys under-22 (2nd round): Ghatkopar YMCA (Aman Sharma 19, Deepak Chaurasia 11) beat HI-5 ‘A’ (Amit Yadav 12, Dipesh Sharma 10) – 51-35 (HT: 30-19).

Men: Transpire Sports (Fashif Shaikh 16, Mohsin Shaikh 15, Jay Kumar 14, Fardeen Khan 12, Mohd Salim 10) beat Fr. Agnel’s SC (Vaishk M. 14, Satbir Singh 12, Tanmay Rane 10) – 72-56 (HT: 31-18).
