Beed: Beed Police rescued two minor cousin sisters from Uttar Pradesh nearly a month after they were allegedly abducted from Umapur village in Georai taluka of the Beed district. Police also arrested the main accused during an interstate operation carried out in Ballia district.
According to police, the girls were safely rescued on Tuesday following a sustained investigation and technical surveillance operation conducted across multiple states.
About The Case…
The accused has been identified as Vijay Mahadev Kavhle, a resident of Palshi village in Mudkhed tehsil of Nanded district.
Police said the incident took place on April 5, 2026, when the accused allegedly abducted the two minor girls from Umapur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Chaklamba Police Station. Following the incident, police registered a kidnapping case under Crime No. 102/2026.
The rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of Navneet Kanwat. Investigators said the accused kept changing locations, making the search operation difficult.
Accused Had Stayed In Thane…
Initial searches were carried out in Bhiwandi in Thane district, where the accused had reportedly stayed earlier. However, police could not trace him there.
Officials then used technical surveillance and digital tracking methods, which indicated the possible presence of the accused and the victims near the Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border region. Based on these inputs, a special police team was sent to Uttar Pradesh.
With assistance from local police, search operations were conducted in the Shivpur Diara area of Ballia district and later in Sikanderpur town. Police laid a trap and arrested the accused during the operation.
Accused Were Planning To Leave For Chhattisgarh…
During interrogation, police traced the location of the two minor girls and rescued them safely. Officials said the accused was allegedly planning to flee to Chhattisgarh with the victims, but timely police action prevented further movement.
Police said the operation involved nearly four days of continuous travel and coordination between teams from different states.
The mission was supervised by Sachin Pandkar and Anil Katke. Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Ingale, police personnel Kalyan Pawar and Hanuman Ingole, along with technical cell officers PSI Shekhar Aute and Vicky Surwase, were part of the operation.
The successful rescue has drawn appreciation from local residents and officials, police said.
